Making Bread!

After our storytelling work about the Little Red Hen, we finished the half term by making our own bread rolls. The children did a great job kneading and and shaping the dough. Just like in the story, the baking bread smelt delicious!

Our version of the traditional tale is below - ask your child to teach you the storytelling actions they have learnt.
Porridge

We have been busy learning and retelling the tradition tale, The Magic Porridge Pot. The children have been re-enacting it in the outdoor kitchen, remembering lots of the key story phrases. Our ESJ version of the tale is below if you would like to share the storytelling at home. After sharing and sequencing the story, everyone was very interested to know what porridge tastes like so on Wednesday we made our own pot of porridge to try. The children then created some super shopping lists and picture recipes to share the process. Do you ever have porridge at home? Let us know on Tapestry!

Exploring the Spinney!

The children have been having lots of fun exploring nature in the Spinney, using chalk to add colour to and draw patterns on the trees. They have been using their imaginations when building, using twigs, sticks, and other natural materials, and have enjoyed finding out more about nature and the outdoor world. Have a look at the photos to see what they have been doing!
