Spelling Bees

Spelling Bees

The children in this group are given five new spellings to learn every Friday and they are tested on them the following week.  There are opportunities to practise these new words during the week but we also suggest they spend some time learning to spell the words at home.

Remember: Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check

Look at the word, say it out loud, cover it up, write the word out several times and then check that the word is spelt correctly.

Extra Challenges
If you would like an extra challenge, you could...
1. Look up each word in a dictionary and write out the definition.
2. Put each word into a sentence (include fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases if you can).
3. Include all 5 words in a piece of writing.

Please note: the words are given to the children to learn on the date shown below and they are tested on them the following week.
