Year 6 Spring Blog

Welcome to the Spring Term in Year 6!

Spring 1 PE (Both classes)
Monday - indoor - Gymnastics
Wednesday - outdoor - Netball
English.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed our work on Harry Potter so far. Finding something for a stimulus that the children are interested in is often a tricky task, as likes and dislikes are so varied. However, on this occasion we think we've hit the jackpot!

Here are our formal letters, written in the style of howlers.
Young Voices 2025

I don't think we can quite put into words how very proud we are right now of our entire Year 6 cohort. From timid first rehearsals, to belting out big numbers in a crowded O2, they have shown themselves to be true performers.

We have tried to give you a flavour of the process and have put together a collection of videos - 20 minutes of pure joy!

A special thank you to Mrs Dunckley and Ms Blakeman for coming on the trip with us.

Mrs T and Mrs Pitt.

(Mrs T would like to apologise for often singing louder than the children, and for shaky camera work while dancing).

World Book Day 2025.

Channelling their inner Stormzy and MCGrammar, check out this rap written and performed by Mrs Turner's class. What brilliant singer songwriters we have!

British Science Week 2025

The theme for this year's British Science Week, is change and adapt.

We have joined in some varied live lessons this week: looking at how to survive on a space flight, adaptation, inheritance and selective breeding in cattle, selective breeding and adaptation in plants and how this can help create climate change resistant crops, and food-waste fighting using seasonal British produce.

In addition to all of this, we also challenged the children to complete a STEM challenge.

The children were given a set of resources which included printed card track templates, tape, scissors and a marble. They were challenged to create a roller-coaster, using continuous adaptations to ensure a smooth, successful ride.

Take a look at their creations...
